Oct 1-29 Peacemaker Offering

During the month of October, beginning on World Communion Sunday, we have the opportunity to participate in the Presbyterian Offering.  Christians are called to be God's peacemakers as agents of reconciliation in families, individual lives, schools, communities, churches and the international arena.

The Peacemaking Offering supports the peacemaking mission of the Presbyterian Church USA.  Beginning in 1999 we have been able to recognize a graduating senior from Elkhart Central, Elkhart Memorial, Concord, and Jimtown High Schools with a $500 Peacemaking Grant.  These grants recognize the students for their involvement in promoting justice and reconciliation between people and creating opportunities for conflict resolution and healing.  The students exhibit fairness and compassion in their personal lives and work for peace and wholeness in their schools and communities.  We've had the opportunity to grant these awards to some very special students for their very special acts of peacemaking.  Also, with a $500 grant, we support the national Peacemaking Offering to develop peacemaking initiatives around the world.

We Hope you will be able to contribute to this special offering request sometime during the month of October.  Offering envelopes are available in all worship spaces and the Gathering Place.  The offering will be dedicated on Sunday, October 29th, and the grants will be awarded at the end of the 2006/7 school year.
